Double shotgun! The only thing that stopped Tuesday from being all round perfect was the cold wind, sadly we can’t change nature. Nonetheless, it was a fantastic day all round for both the Ladies and Men competing in a separate shotgun competitions. The morning saw fourteen teams of four Ladies playing in an Am-Am, best two of four Stableford, of which there were three ‘fledglings’ from the introductory scheme taking part; I’m sure that Kate Copeland, Amanda McNally and Helen Cockbill were made to feel most welcome.
Your winners on the day with a stunning score of 87 points (15-under par) were Maxine Padley, Pam Ellis, Sarah Chinnery and Trish Ruddle. Well done ladies. 15:00pm came around quicker than you could even think and it was time for Tuesday Night Finals. With different prizes available for different handicap categories, nearest pins, 2’s sweep, and for those that had not played in at least three TNS events; it was going to be a fun afternoon.
The nearest pin competitions were split between handicap categories: 0-12 H’cap on the 5th hole was won by George Petrie, 13-28 H’cap on the 17th hole was won by Tony Ruddle. The 2’s sweep yielded four 2’s: Robert Macleod-Smith, David Smith and Will Chamberlain (2)
In the competition for gentlemen who had played in fewer than three TNS events; Stuart Sibsey was the victor with 35 points.
The three winners in the 13-28 handicap category were: 3rd place – Alan Fitt (32pts), 2nd place – Jim Cooil (36pts), 1st place – Simon Cockbill (37pts)
The three winners in the 0-12 handicap category were: 3rd place – George Petrie (34pts), 2nd place – Robert Macleod-Smith (34pts), 1st place – David Smith.
And finally… the 2017 winner of the Tuesday Night Bowl and The Race to Ketton is Kevin Atkinson, congratulations Kevin.
