For many of the school children around the area Friday will be the last day of term. I few lucky ones will already be on their summer holidays.
Tom, Sam and myself are very keen on developing all junior golfers, regardless of age or experience. So why not ask them whether they fancy playing a bit of golf - especially with the Open Championship on the TV all week.
In order to run successful Boot Camps and help to develop the junior section, we need your support. Your children, grandchildren or their friends are welcome next week to join in our fun.
We want to improve all the golfers who come along and inspire them to want to come up and play some golf.
Luffenham Heath is a relatively small club, we will never be flush with juniors but if you do know anybody who would like to give it a go then please let us know.
- Wednesday 23rd July & Thursday 24th July
- Wednesday 20th August & Thursday 21st August
£65 per child per course including lunch.
All sessions commence at 12pm running through to 2:30pm. As per previous courses we are looking to improve every golfer whether those with more experience or less in how to hit the ball, etiquette and rules. We are restricted to a maximum of 10 children per course.
Without your support and backing to meet these children, we are always going to struggle to develop Luffenham Heath's Junior section.
The 143rd Open Championship - Royal Liverpool 2014
The pictures from the preview of this years Open Championship look as if it is very green. Therefore, I don't think it will be playing as hard and fast as previous open venues, which I believe is what the British public will want the golf course to be played. However, with the predicted forecast for high temperatures before the weekend, that could change quite quickly. Especially if they forget to water the greens!
Tom showed me a BBC sport clip with Andrew Cotter in the rough; it looked a lot to play from ours! However, their rough looks the same as ours, plays easier but we will never have that style of rough simply because Luffenham Heath is on clay and not sand.
All in all, we will all look forward to the most individual of the major championships. With wall-to-wall coverage on the BBC, lets hope for a British winner!
