Greetings from Ian Burnett
Luffenham Heath Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional

Many of you will have enjoyed watching the Open either on the television or even going to the venue. Yet again the R&A have run another flawless event. Planning for next year will have already started such are the complexities of running an event with a worldwide entry system.

I watched Sunday afternoon on and off and seemed to miss all the good action on Saturday night with Rory finishing with a couple of eagles in the last three. From my seat I think Rory Mcllroy's golf swing is the best I've ever seen. Adam Scott and Charles Schwartzel golf swings come in a close second. I think we might have witnessed a changing of the guard over the weekend. A dejected Tiger Woods not being able to hit it in the same county as the hole he's playing and then seeing two young 25 year olds walking in the last group, playing great golf and talking to each other And playing at normal pace!

A Final note. Did anyone notice who handed the Trophy to the winner? Non other than Luffenham's consultant Agronomist Alistair Beggs and Captain of Royal Liverpool Golf Club. Friends in high places!

Those of you who have played golf on Wednesday or Thursday, may have seen Tom, Sam or Myself with 4 junior golfers for the latest bootcamp. Ranging from the age of 7 to 14 male and female, all with totally different golfing experience.

All three of us who have taught the children over the last couple of days would like to say a big thank you and well done to George Darby, Olivia Solomons, George Adderley & James Plenderleith. Their behaviour was impeccable as was their concentration over 4 hours of golf tuition. All have progressed at a very nice rate and hopefully enjoyed it as much as we have.

On that note, we have still got spaces left on our other junior bootcamp on Wednesday 20th & Thursday 21st July. So, if you would like to sign your children, grandchildren etc. up for this one then please contact anyone in the pro shop, or click here
