Summer Knockout competitions

The weather this week has taken a turn for the colder, which I’m sure for many of you has heightened your longing for the start of the season in April, which is when the Summer Knockout competitions get underway.

The club is still taking entries and will be up until Sunday 31st March; you can either sign up in them Pro Shop or online.

Titleist TS metals

It has been a few months that we have had Titleist’s TS Metals in the shop. Titleist say that they started again from the ground up to focus on speed, launch and spin and now both heads in the range are 460cc, albeit in slightly different shapes. They have also gone back to their more conventional black finish, and away from the silvery finish that we saw in their previous 917 metals, which will please Titleist loyalists.

Titleist set out with one aim in mind - to give the golfer more speed. The general consensus that we’ve been hearing from customers is that Titleist have achieved this. However, if you still need more persuading, feel free to pop in and try the TS metals for yourself.

In the world of golf...

Bryson DeChambeau claimed his maiden European Tour title in style on Sunday, producing a closing 64 to win the 30th anniversary edition of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic by seven shots. The World Number Five had set himself the target of securing his first professional overseas win at Emirates Golf Club ahead of the event, and he duly delivered, carding an eagle, seven birdies and a single bogey on day four to finish the week on 24 under par and set a new tournament record.

Justin Rose secured his 10th PGA Tour title at Torrey Pines at the weekend, Rose’s 21-under total 267 (63-66-69-69) was the lowest score since the South Course was toughened in the early 2000s, eclipsing Tiger Wood’s 2008 total by two-shots. With this win he further consolidates his place at the stop of the world rankings.
