Spikes 

With winter golf now well and truly under way, it is time to start thinking about the state of your equipment. As the ground gets wetter, it provides much less stability for your footing during the golf swing. What this means is you will lose a lot of power in your golf swing, simply because you either are thinking you do not have enough grip or your shoes have built up a layer of mud between cleats causing your feet to slip and move during the golf swing. 

Therefore, changing your spikes is the easiest way to prevent this from happening. Moving from soft summer cleats to hard single metal spikes will give you that much needed support and stability for your feet during the swing. It also prevents large build-ups of mud, which will prevent you from slipping over. What's more, we can even have these changed whilst you go and have your drink in the clubhouse!

GC2 - Do you know your stats? 

Whether you believe in all the stats associated with each and every shot you play, they are very important to understand if you want to improve your consistency and shot choice capabilities. As we have now moved in to winter, it is imperative you know how to control your golf ball to maximise distance and maintain a desirable ball flight in the changing and challenging weather conditions.

Below are images showing the information available to the GC2 launch monitor, showing how much data it records in just one shot. Key areas to spot for this time of year, are Spin rates (back & Side), Launch Angle and Carry distance. These figures will highlight areas of your ball flight that may be hindering your consistency and preventing you from hitting the ball as far as you would like or are capable of.



Therefore, knowing which areas of your ball flight to improve, will give you greater understanding of the swing fundamentals that are causing these figures, and it is our job to help you improve these. As the wind starts to pick up and the ground gets softer, carry distance because vital as the course is providing very little roll on the ball. Therefore, launch angle and spin rates will have a drastic impact on your carry distance.
